Zeeland, and especially Zeeland-Flanders, has all the ingredients for a pleasant stay in all seasons of the year: sun, sea, beach, the most hours of sunshine in Holland and Belgium, culture and history.
Sunbathing and swimming are the order of the day in summer, as well as in the spring and autumn. When the temperatures drop, or if there’s snow or wind, it’s delightful to blow away the cobwebs and enjoy the crash of the big waves and the ever-changing skyscape. And afterwards you can warm yourself by the lovely open fire at Hotel De Blanke Top.
The grandiose landscape, with its long beaches, dunes and unspoilt natural beauty create a beneficial feeling of peace and open spaces. Picturesque little villages and towns, special museums, great attractions and events make the surroundings complete.
Just 10 km away are three golf courses where fresh air, quiet and wonderful view will make your game even more pleasant.
In additional to the fabulous beaches, where you can still find shark’s teeth, Zeeland-Flanders is also the ideal place for cycling and rambling. The broad and charming polder landscape, with its little tracks and pathways, flanked by willows, is the idyllic spot for anyone seeking genuine peace and quiet.
And right by the front door is the nature reserve at “Het Zwin”, a former sea inlet. This is where you will find totally unspoilt nature. Het Zwin is a patchwork quilt of mud flats and salt marshes, a bird park, lakes, channels and creeks where a range of rare and unusual plants grow. Some 70 or so native birds, sheep and other animals thrive in the wonderful natural surroundings.
Beautiful walking and cycling routes will tempt you out into the open air for days on end.
Lovers of Nordic walking can spend their days exploring the many routes and rambling possibilities.
Tennis courts are available within a radius of a few kilometres.
Horse-riding is a genuine experience here. Galloping by the sea in the morning or evening is the dream of every riding enthusiast. You can hire horses to ride close to the hotel.
A selection of lovely little towns adorn the hinterland behind Hotel De Blanke Top. These little villages and bustling towns have everything you could want. Breskens, with its authentic little harbour is so beautiful to look at. Take the ferry from the harbour to the peninsula of het Walcheren across the water. You can also explore the island from Vlissingen.
Our amuse yourself in the busy own of Knokke in Belgium, where you’ll find stylish boutiques to browse through or you can stroll along the promenade. And if it’s nightlife you’re looking for, there’s a disco and nightclub to visit. The famous and picturesque town of Bruges, with its glorious architecture and narrow streets is well worth a visit. So are Ghent, Middelburg and Veere in Zeeland, with their history and bustling squares.
